A pioneer of American-style “low and slow” BBQ in Australia,

Lance Rosen is the pioneer of American-style BBQ in Melbourne. Lance, a classically trained chef, opened the first Big Boy BBQ store in 2010 after falling in love with barbeque in America. Big Boy BBQ has three stores in Melbourne, smoke and cooks all their meats on hickory wood. All their sauces and sides are made from scratch in their smoke-house, and avoid any added chemicals. Big Boy BBQ aims to give the best ribs in a casual fast environment. ‘Slow Food… Fast’ is about his passion to preserve traditional cooking methods and provide an alternative to unhealthy fast food.

 

He was recognized as an innovator in food by The Age Magazine, in 2012, for his introduction of American BBQ to Melbourne. Also his book, Temples of BBQ won the title of Best BBQ cookbook in the world 2015 at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. Lance is a qualified BBQ judge and has judged in the USA and he loves to compete in the sport of BBQ.
