David Maenhout, born in 1975, started to follow courses in Belgium and France to become a chocolatier when he was 27. David opened ‘Chocolatier M’ with his wife Isabelle Hertsens in 2005. Right from the start, ‘Chocolatier M’ created their own identity by creating all recipes from scratch and by intensive testing in their chocolate lab. They are famous for their innovative, gastronomic pralines with unusual flavor combination and ingredients. ‘Chocolatier M’ is a preferred partner and creates unique chocolates for many star chefs. 

They were honored by Gault&Millau as the very first ‘Chocolate of the Year’ and won 2 gold medals in ‘The International Chocolate Awards’ held in London. They were also honored as ‘Chocolate Heaven’ by Foodepedia in the UK, and also honored as the ‘best chocolatier of his generation’ by the French magazine Le Figaro.
