The title “Korea’s First 3 Star Michelin Chef” carries an in-depth meaning in the culinary field of Korea. Chef Kim Sung-il has been walking the path of traditional Korean Cuisine since 1988 at The Shilla Hotel and is now recognized worldwide. Chef Kim’s ‘La Yeon’ boasts the highest standards in taste, service, and atmosphere that Korean cuisine could express. ‘La Yeon’ is a place where one could experience the Chef Kim’s creative interpretation of traditional Korean cuisine.

 

 

Team ‘La Yeon’ has constantly made efforts to continue the authenticity of Korean cuisine. By keeping the fundamental elements of Korean cuisine, the team continually studies every aspect of Korean food culture; from table setting to culinary method. They also actively communicate with traditional artisans from all over the country. The ‘Traditional Jonga Food Promotion’ with the Gwangsan Gim Clan’s Family of Seolwoldang is a representative example of collaboration and exchange. La Yeon is the first Korean restaurant to be selected as one of the ‘150 Best Restaurants’ from the ‘La Liste 2020’, and earn 3 Michelin Stars for four consecutive years.
