OUR CHEFS 2021

Woo-joong Kwon

“Plating the Dignity of Korean Food on the Table”

The Michelin Star is a title more difficult to maintain than to earn. It becomes difficult to maintain the original taste and level of service when the number of customers rises after rumors have spread that a restaurant has earned a Michelin Star. Kwon Woo-joong, the owner-chef of ‘KwonSookSoo’ is making an astounding achievement in such aspect. Starting from the only owner-chef of a two-star restaurant in the Michelin Guide 2016, the restaurant has maintained its two stars up to now. This is another reason why ‘KwonSookSoo’, which is named after Kwon’s name, is acknowledged as one of the top representatives of Korean fine-dining culture.

Chef Kwon Woo-joong started his culinary career at The Chosun Hotel and later became the head chef of ‘Omi’ in Japan and ‘Jodie’s Friend’ in New York. After experiencing the international gourmet culture, he came back to Korea and led the openings of several restaurants working as an R&D chef at ‘Sun at Food’ and ‘CJ Foodville’. From popular Korean food restaurants presented by the Sichuan House, Bibigo.
