Seok-nam Baek

 

“Master of Hotel Dining”

 

 

Chef Seok-nam Baek is in charge of the cooking team at the Grand & Vista Walkerhill Hotel. He is a veteran who planned various state dinners at the Blue House, G20 First Ladies' Events & 2007 Inter-Korean Summit menus, and joined the Walkerhill Hotel in 1992. He has been working here for 30 years. In 1986, he worked at the athletes' meal business headquarters during the Asian Games in Seoul, and it still remains a legendary record to cook 56,400 meals (30 days in 2003 and 25 days in 2009) in each year while directing Armway Korea's Korean food promotion held at the Kota Kinabalu Nexus Hotel in Malaysia. In November 2019, the 2020 Michelin Guide event was successfully held by collaborating with Michelin Star Chef at the Walkerhill Hotel. 

In 1995, he won the gold prize in the group competition of the 3rd Seoul International Cooking Contest in each cold and hot dishes and in 2000, he also won the gold prize in the group competition of the same competition. He served as a judge in the cooking section of local functional competitions in Gyeonggi-do and Incheon, and a supervisor of the Korea Industrial Human Resources Management Corporation's cooking technician test. He also served as an outpatient professor and special lecturer at the Korea Tourism University and Kyunghee University.
